I did not work on fiction at all this past week, though I have been chewing on ideas for the sequel to Rigel Kentaurus. That book originally had the working title Barnard’s Star, but the plot falling together is not supporting that title. The working title is now Proxima Centauri.
I expect to begin working on Proxima Centauri by mid-May. I’ve decided to give at least one editorial pass to A Darkling Nine first, and it might go out to first readers also. Since I plan to market A Darkling Nine traditionally, it makes sense to get it into shape so I can begin circulating the manuscript to agencies while I work on more indie-model work, which is where Proxima Centauri falls.
I intend to crack open A Darkling Nine later today. Not sure how long it will take as the manuscript usually grows at least 10% on first revision. I fill in white rooms with detail, I try to insert more sensory description, and so on.
