I notified the world last week Tuesday that I intended to take a social media sabbatical and also refrain from participating in Codex as well. The intention was, and still is, to wrap my mind around a few issues that I ave been facing, as well as to take my writing to the next level.
So, what have I been up to? First, I have been rereading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey. From time to time, everyone needs to be reminded to stay grounded and keep everything in perspective.
Second, I got the fiction writing gears moving again. I allowed myself to become stalled out around 41,000 words into my novel A Darkling Nine. On Monday of this week, I started again with new focus and intensity. I have produced over 8,600 new words over the past 4 days while at the same time solving the sticky plot point that helped get me derailed in the first place. I like how the story is going now, and I’m pretty sure I can push through to the end before taxes are due in April.
I still have a few items that need to be addressed before I end this social media sabbatical, but jump-starting the fiction was a biggie. That objective is met and since I am a momentum writer, well, an object in motion tends to stay in motion. I may even up my daily target word count.
