Rush in Concert

It’s a testament to how busy I’ve been that I’m only getting to this now, even though the concert was last Sunday.

In response to his sisters going to several concerts, including Hollywood Undead and One Direction, last summer I bought a pair of tickets for my son and I to see Rush perform this past weekend. I must say, for a first concert experience, my son got a good one.

First off, Rush filmed this concert for a DVD release coming out next year, so the band was in top form and energetic. They played for three hours, as they tend to do. The set list was a bit newer than I would have liked (5 from Power Windows) but I did spend a good month listening to the new album Clockwork Angels so I would know them in time for the concert. (I’m starting to think it’s their best album since Moving Pictures, which says a lot.)

I also knew that fellow Codex writer Matthew S. Rotundo would be in Phoenix and planned to attend the show. We managed to find each other and though we didn’t get to talk much, we did take the opportunity to get a snapshot together. It was a lot more crowded than it looks.
