Since I have been asked about a possible sequel to Rigel Kentaurus, I thought I would outline for you what my plans are in terms of what I’m working on this year, and my plans for what I’ll probably call the Deep Space series.
For 2012
I made it a goal to write four novels this year. The first novel is to be called Fishpunk, something I have been talking about for a couple of years now. It is something of a parody of Steampunk, although the story line is serious. I expect this to be a stand-alone, but there has been some interest in a related short fiction anthology that I would edit.
The second novel for 2012 is probably going to be called A Darkling Nine. This will be the first book of a series. I’m not going to go into much detail on this one yet, because I haven’t seen this particular idea done much.
The third novel for 2012 will probably be called Barnard’s Star. This will be a sequel to Rigel Kentaurus, and will involve characters from RK. I’m planning to involve the Betels a bit more in this one.
The last novel for 2012 will be a stand-alone novel that is related to the short story I wrote at Orson Scott Card’s Boot Camp back in 2005.
There are more goodies on deck for next year.
Deep Space Books, aka sequel(s) to Rigel Kentaurus
I have at least seven more books with either a title or a few notes scratched on a piece of paper. The second book, as I mentioned above, will likely be called Barnard’s Star. (All of the books in this series will be given a star name as a title.) Barnard’s Star will feature the Betels a bit more prominently.
In later books, we will get to see (and maybe participate in) a major battle between the Amarian Thrace and Betels. We’ll experience the battle for Earth, and we’ll eventually find out who is keeping the Scythian Thrace busy.
