You have to wonder what’s going through Peyton Manning’s head. Teams are wooing him, throwing money at him, and treating him like he can walk on water.
I still think the Cardinals would have been an excellent team for him. They are working on the offensive line regardless of who is under center, and the defense is near the top of the league. Warm weather, indoor stadium (with option to open the roof.) And, throwing to Larry Fitzgerald.
But, it was not meant to be. The Cardinals fall back to their original plan of Kevin Kolb now, and grooming John Skelton for tomorrow. Once the deadline to decide whether Kolb stayed on the roster and Manning did not commit to Arizona, the Cards walked away.
Now that Manning is out of the picture, look for the Cardinals to be more aggressive with the free agent market, and to draft in the trenches. They’ve built one of the best defenses in the league, and now it’s time to protect the QB.
The Cardinals are better than their record last season.
