Hump Day, Sort Of

Okay, I do realize it is Thursday and not Wednesday. What I’m talking about here is the culmination of two weeks of totally swamped. I had some overlap of summer and fall classes at the two schools where I teach. I am also guest lecturing today and tomorrow on the subject of classical mechanics in a class for physical therapists.

Today is a back-to-back with the physics lecture followed by the final exam for my accelerated trigonometry class at the community college that is 15 miles away from the first class.

Top that off with shuttling my daughter to work and to cross country practice and I have been spending a lot of time away from the home office.

Things will be settling down starting tomorrow, when I start a 2-week break from the community college, and next week the kids are back in school.

I still intend to finish the two novel partials I have sitting on my hard drive before the end of the year. To that end, I dropped out of two short story contests that are held at Codex. It was a tough decision because I usually emerge with decent material, but I decided the long-term goal trumped the short-term.

Work on the novel starts probably tomorrow, as I will be closing out today with grading exams and posting trigonometry final grades. Hopefully I can also get to the Digital Science Fiction task in the next couple of days.
