One member of Congress, libertarian Republican Texas Representative Ron Paul, takes a stand. He introduced a bill to remove government immunity from TSA officers to disallow any activity that non-government personnel cannot do. It would allow for TSA gropers to be arrested for assault.
Watch his passion in this video of his 5 minutes of House floor time when introducing the bill. If you follow me on Twitter then you know I have been ranting about this all day.
Remember that Liberty and Security are on opposite sides of the equation, and they are inversely proportional. That’s the cost of living in a free society. The TSA works for us, and they should be doing what we tell them to do. Right now, the government is stripping our rights away little by little in the name of security. This is exactly what our founding fathers warned us about. Heck, evil dictators make the trains run on time. That doesn’t mean I want to live in that regime.
If you aren’t angry about this erosion of rights, you should be. The more liberty we abandon in the name of security, the more Al Qaida scores a victory. They are winning now because their actions make us want to discard our liberty. Hell no, I say. Give me Liberty, or give me death, even by a terrorist underwear bomb.
