The third story in 2020 Visions is from Randy Henderson, a relative newcomer, and a man about whom I know very little. His story is called A Shelter For Living Things, and concerns the impact of water shortages and rationing on a woman who runs an animal shelter.
This story has an interesting mix of reasonable technological extrapolation and a few anachronisms from the past, you know, techniques that always seem to survive despite being obsolete to many people. The two mix well, and in the process Randy creates a touching story.
Randy is member of the 2009 Clarion West class. I have known Randy through Codex Writers Group virtually since he joined in August of ’09. He describes himself as a recovering sarcasm addict and milkshake connoisseur.
